During training he received multiple teaching and clinical awards, and outside of medicine, he also excelled as Mexico’s national javelin champion (1986–1989), placing fourth in the Central American Games.
Since 2003, Dr. Aguilar has cared for the El Paso community as a cardiologist, serving in leadership roles including Director of Cardiology at several hospitals and on the boards of local health institutions. Over the last decade, he expanded his expertise into obesity and metabolic medicine, clinical nutrition, and hormone optimization. He also earned a Master of Public Health to strengthen his focus on prevention.
After nearly two decades repairing hearts and arteries in the cath lab, Dr. Aguilar embraced a new mission: to prevent the next emergency before it happens. His practice today blends advanced cardiovascular care with precision, integrative strategies that address the root drivers of heart disease and metabolic dysfunction.
As co-founder of ETERNA, Dr. Aguilar brings first-hand knowledge “from inside the arteries” to programs designed to stop, stabilize, and even reverse cardiovascular disease—helping patients build stronger hearts, healthier metabolism, and longer, better lives.
